Congratulations to Sunshine Region Pony Clubbers!!  Sunshine Region Pony Clubs
Wekiva Basin pony clubber, Megan A. and her pony “Promises Kept” were awarded the high point award for Pre-Children’s Hunter Pony / Tampa Equestrian Series 2012 Hunter Circuit during the Tampa Equestrian Festival awards, which occurred on the stadium course of the American Invitational!

Congratulations to Ochlockonee River pony clubber Lindsey H. and her horse “Friedenfurst” for representing the Trakehner in the Parade of Breeds!

(note the Gypsy Vanner, Kuchi who has had a Breyer model created in her honor ridden by trainer Heather Caudill of Olympus Sport Horses in the background)
We also proudly recognize Fox Hollow Pony Club for representing pony club in the 2012 as the “Official Program Seller” for the event. This group wore their pony club polo’s, riding britches, and boots representing pony club as they sold programs for the event throughout the stadium.
The event itself was very exciting and climaxed with a jump-off which kept the audience on the edge of their seats as the rider times kept getting faster and faster!
The winner was “Cella” ridden by Mario Deslauriers, a native of Canada and resident of Wellington, FL.  Mario rides for Jane Clark Stables in Wellington, FL.  He is a second generation rider coached by his parent in the early years. This was his first Invitational win although he has competed and won many Grand Prix events.  He also competed in the 1984 & 1988 Olympics.  In 1984 Mario won the FEI World Cup Final and was the youngest, at age 19 to ever win the award and still holds the title.  See link for recap of the event.

Cella scored a victory in her first Invitational under the guidance of Mario Deslauriers

He is in full training and coming along quickly. He has been trailridden a lot in the past few years. Whimsy would make a lovely dressage mount for an AA rider, with very smooth gaits he is easy to sit too.
Currently schooling all first level movements.
